[12th Information and Communication Strategy Committee] Song Hwa-yeon, a reporter for the 2nd 3D printing industry promotion (Seoul = News1), is increasing demand for small amounts and multiple items along with the spread of non-face-to-face consumption in the aftermath of COVID-19. The government believes that securing core materials and technologies for 3D printing is important, and plans to grow the 3D printing technology market to KRW 1 trillion by 2022.

The 12th Information and Communication Strategy Committee, presided over by Prime Minister Jeong Sye-kyun at the Seoul Government Complex in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 22nd, deliberated and resolved the "2nd Basic Plan for Promotion of the 3D Printing Industry" led by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The meeting was organized to establish policies for newly growing and increasing importance industries such as 3D printing, information protection industry, and realistic content.

Government and private officials who attended the meeting established the "2nd Basic Plan for the Promotion of the 3D Printing Industry" (2020-2022) to check the government's related policy performance and limitations and promote policies that reflect changes in the industrial environment.

Currently, the global 3D printing industry continues to grow solidly, centering on high-priced industrial markets such as aviation and space. According to Wallace Societz, a professional market research firm, the 3D printing market is expected to grow from $9.7 billion (about 11 trillion won) in 2018 to $35.5 billion (about 43 trillion won) by 2024.

Domestic 3D printing is also growing. According to the National Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), the domestic 3D printing market has grown from 223 billion won in 2015 to 395.8 billion won in 2018. However, it has grown mainly in the field of education and life, and the spread to various industries is slow.In order to spread the use of 3D printing in industrial sites, the government will promote the discovery of successful commercialization models by demonstrating technologies in promising fields such as 의료 medical devices and construction 산업 applying all 3D printing technology processes to industrial complexes.It also plans to improve the corporate environment of the 3D printing industry, including 기업 independence of core technologies such as materials, equipment, and software 설계 preoccupying 3D printing future technologies such as 3D printing element technology intelligence.Through this promotion plan, the government proposed a goal of expanding the domestic 3D printing market to 1 trillion won by 2022 and raising 10 3D printing companies with annual sales of more than 10 billion won from only three in 2018. Furthermore, the company plans to raise domestic technology competitiveness, which is only 79.9% compared to the U.S., to 85% by 2022.The Ministry of Science and ICT said, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation and communication between the private sector and related ministries in the future to promote major policies in the information and communication sector discussed on this day without a hitch."Meanwhile, in accordance with Article 5 of the Three-Dimensional Printing Industry Promotion Act, the Ministry of Science and ICT established and promoted the first basic plan for the promotion of the 3D printing industry, focusing on policy tasks (creating market demand, building infrastructure, etc.) from 2017 to 2019.
